Pharmacy Mentoring Programme

Structured cross-industry mentoring for pharmacy professionals.

Launching 2027.

Working in pharmacy is clinically responsible, highly regulated and increasingly complex. Whether you are in community pharmacy, leadership or a supporting role, you are often balancing patient care, professional accountability, commercial pressures and workforce challenges – all at pace.

Twocan® delivers a structured mentoring programme that provides non-technical CPD, focusing on the human skills that sit alongside clinical expertise: clarity, confidence, leadership and decision-making.

CPD

We are actively working to qualify this programme as verifiable non-technical CPD in line with GPhC requirements.

Once confirmed, participation will be recordable towards your annual CPD requirement.

We understand the reality of working in pharmacy

Pharmacy professionals carry significant clinical and regulatory responsibility, often within demanding commercial environments. Whether in community, hospital, or a growing multiple, the challenges that matter most are human ones — managing teams, developing your career, making decisions under pressure, and finding the space to think.

TwoCan matches pharmacy professionals with mentors from completely outside the sector. No assumptions about how pharmacy works. Just clear, impartial thinking and the outside perspective that often changes everything.

People working across the pharmacy sector often tell us about:

These challenges are not about clinical knowledge or technical skill – they are about being human in a demanding, people-facing profession.

When there is no space to think

Without the opportunity to pause and reflect, it is easy to:

Mentoring creates protected space — one hour, once a month — to slow things down, gain perspective from someone completely outside pharmacy, and move forward with more clarity.

No space to think

How mentoring supports people in the pharmacy sector

Twocan mentoring provides non-technical CPD that helps people to:

Think clearly through complex or high-pressure decisions

Build confidence in professional judgement

Develop leadership and people-management skills

Navigate career progression and increasing responsibility

Handle challenging situations with clients or colleagues

Feel less isolated in roles that carry responsibility

This is not about being told what to do. It is about having an experienced, impartial person alongside you as you work things out for yourself.

Mentoring for individuals

Individuals working in the pharmacy sector can join our Pharmacy Cross-Ecosystem Mentoring Programme.

This programme brings together people from across the pharmacy ecosystem – including community, primary care, leadership, management and related professional roles – while drawing on wider cross-sector experience and perspective.

This option is well suited to:

Mentoring for pharmacy organisations

Twocan works with pharmacy organisations, groups and independents in two ways:

Place people into an existing programme
Organisations can place individuals or cohorts into the Pharmacy Cross-Ecosystem Mentoring Programme, benefiting from a structured, professional mentoring experience without needing to design or manage a programme internally.

A mentoring programme designed specifically for your organisation
We also work with organisations to design and deliver a mentoring programme tailored to your structure, culture and people strategy.

This includes:

This provides a complete, professional mentoring solution, delivered consistently across your organisation.

Our cross-ecosystem approach

Twocan runs multiple cross-ecosystem mentoring programmes, each anchored in a specific sector – including pharmacy, private dental practice, optometry, veterinary, food and farming and others.

Each programme reflects the realities of its sector while benefiting from broader experience and perspective.

Different roles, similar human challenges – that is where mentoring delivers the greatest value.

Start a conversation

Whether you are exploring mentoring for yourself, placing people into one of our sector-based programmes, or looking for a mentoring solution designed specifically for your organisation, we would love to talk.

Emma Steele

Knowledge Exchange at AHDB

A bit about you

I was brought up on a mixed livestock farm in East Yorkshire. After studying Agriculture at Newcastle University, I moved down to Warwickshire for my first ‘proper job’ at AHDB in the beef & sheep genetics sector. I did that for 3 years before taking a secondment into the Knowledge Exchange team at AHDB, being the point of contact for beef & sheep producers between Lincolnshire and Herefordshire. A year secondment, turned into 2 and then I got invited to stay! I’ve now been in the role 5 years and enjoy the variety my role brings – no two days are the same.

Why did you decide to join the programme?

I love my job and my team, but I was looking for a new challenge when I came across Helen and Twocan Mentor at an industry networking event. Being mentored sounded like a great idea and opportunity to push myself. Having been in the same organisation since I graduated and the same role for a while, you can sometimes become a little sheltered from how other organisations and job roles work. This seemed the perfect opportunity to get an alternative opinion on my career and development from people that have a very different experience to me and don’t really know me, so have no bias.

What do you hope to gain from the experience?

I would love to have some goals and something to aim for, I don’t know where I see myself in 5/10/15 years, so I’m hoping this scheme will help me bring some clarity to that and work out what I do and don’t want from my career. I’d also like some different opinions on how to deal with work challenges – especially when people have different ways of working. I’m a planner who likes a reasonable amount of detail, a fair amount of control and time to think things through, so working with people who don’t work in that way is inevitable, but can be frustrating
